Don’t you hate it when you run out of regular muffin or cupcake liners. Not to worry. You can use this simple parchment paper hack to make your own liners. Tulip shape style liners.
1. For our muffin pan I cut out 6 by 6 inch squares to use as liners. For cupcakes 5 by 5 inch squares. Pans vary in size so your square might be a little larger or smaller. Just make sure the liner sitting in the well is deep enough on all sides to hold all the batter.
2. Find a drinking glass, canned food can, or canned food glass that will fit in the bottom of one of the wells of the muffin or cupcake pan. I used a drinking glass for the muffin and a cocktail glass for the cupcake pan.
3. Place one square over the muffin or cupcake well. Center it in the middle of the well. Use the bottom of the drinking glass to press the parchment paper all the way to the bottom. Adjust the parchment paper if you need to, so that it’s even on all sides and press down to the bottom again.
4. Grab the glass and parchment paper with both hands (see picture below). Mold and fine tune the parchment paper over the bottom of the glass. Pressing the folded or pleated areas so that it will keep it’s shape.
5. To keep the liners from popping up, use a pea size piece of cold butter in each muffin or cupcake well and press each parchment paper liner into place.
